We could talk all day about what Ten Years looks like, but instead we thought… why not take a moment to meet the incredible people – just like you – who make Let Them LOL possible!
Even beyond her incredible creativity, and loyalty as a friend, Joy is a passionate volunteer and advocate for those in need. When she learned about a community in Sierra Leone whom she could stand alongside, she immediately jumped at the opportunity and never looked back. Get to know a bit of her personal connection to Let Them LOL!

How long have you been involved in Let Them LOL?
About 7 years now. I got involved after my sister in law went to a trip recap dinner and shared with us about a mutual friend’s experience. After hearing the stories, I just couldn’t ignore the problem and started getting involved.
What does 10 Years mean to you?
A lot has changed in 10 years at LOL! Its amazing to look back and see the growth and restoration that God has been able to provide through LTLOL to the people of Sierra Leone. So much hope is there now especially with the school (Hope Rising Academy) and the new Health Clinic being built. So much progress has been made and the community is growing. There is still work to be done to bring clean water, but it is amazing to see the progress so far.
Why do you care about clean water? Any other comments/thoughts?
Water is a basic need in life. When I first heard the statistics about how many deaths are related to water born illnesses every day I thought, This is NOT OK. Something that we take for granted is a precious commodity for many people. As they say in Sierra Leone, water is life. And when we can help provide them this basic need, then they can focus on thriving in other areas of life.

Any added thoughts or memories/reflections?
I have sponsored Fatmata for the past five years. This girl had a piece of my heart right from the beginning. When I signed up to be a sponsor, I hoped that it would be life-changing for her, but I had no idea how much it would change my heart. She is quiet but fierce with a lot of sass- a girl after my own heart. It has been amazing to see her growth over the past 5 years. Not only is she physically bigger and stronger thanks to meals provided, but she has made so much progress in her education as well. I am beyond thankful that she can have this opportunity thanks to LOL.
