Against the darkness and its threatening whispers
against the bold thief of fear and death
snarling in the shadows
we clasp hands,
lift our eyes to the hills
rise up to believe again.
You lift my chin when the hurt is too heavy.
A tear gently wiped with unspoken understanding.
We rise. Shields and swords are clasped again.
However foolishly
we choose hope
with the boldness of the dawn
as she keeps rising, too,
straight into the darkness.
